Fashion Costume Hair Show en Stirling

El mes pasado me invitaron a un evento de moda que se hacía en Forth Valley College, en Stirling (Scotland). Varios estudiantes de diseño, peluquería y maquillaje de esta escuela realizaron un desfile para enseñarnos sus creaciones. 

Conocí a Izabela Baranowicz, una de las estudiantes que participó en este Fashion Show.  Izabela exhibió prendas de una creación muy personal que a mí  particularmente me gustaron mucho, como ella misma dijo: 

"Quería que mis diseños se vieran muy misteriosos junto con estilo victoriano ", y lo consiguió!

Esta amante de la música heavy, rock clásico y punk, nos mostró en el desfile unas prendas sacadas como si de una película de terror se tratara, en las cuales se  inspiró y recogió ideas en varios diseñadores 

"Vivienne Westwood y sus últimas colecciones, Jean Paul Gautier, y algunos magníficos diseños de John Galliano." 

Quería saber un poco más sobre ella, de donde venia tanta creatividad, que piensa de las tendencias, sus sueños...por eso le realicé una pequeña entrevista así que aquí os dejo sus interesantes repuestas. Muchas gracias Izabela! 

¿Quién es Izabela Baranowicz?

Soy sólo una chica normal con sueños grandes. Trato de encontrar mi lugar en el mundo artístico de la moda y el diseño textil. La mayor fuente de inspiración en mi vida es la música.

Me interesa la historia de la música, he leído sucesos del pasado, y explorado nuevos estilos, bandas y géneros. Me hace sentir bien cuando puedo comprar un álbum del grupo que me gusta.

Yo soy un fan de la música Heavy, rock clásico y el punk. Cuando escucho la música puedo sentir la sed de crear, diseñar y trabajar en mis proyectos.Para mí es una forma invisible de arte, la indomable energía, lo cual aprecio mucho, y cuando escucho la melodía correcta, dependiendo de mi estado de ánimo, me hace sentir viva y feliz.


También soy un apasionada de la moda y he estado recopilando publicaciones de moda, como por ejemplo de la revista Vogue, en el último par de años.


He estado estudiando arte y diseño en la universidad de Forth Valley en los últimos cuatro años y he estado disfrutando cada momento en ella. Ahora estoy terminando mi último año de Arte y Diseño de HND. Me encanta el arte, el movimiento de surrealismo, adoro todas las colecciones de Alexander McQueen y me encanta ver los shows de Victoria´s Secret.


¿Qué es la moda para ti?

Personalmente, creo que la moda es el camino sin límites de la auto-expresión,que no require seguir las últimas tendencias.

No es necesario poseer una fortuna para crear tu propia imagen original, yo diría lo contrario. Soy un gran fan de las tiendas de segunda mano y vintage. Creo que estos son los mejores lugares en el mundo para encontrar algo único, algo que puedo usar sabiendo que no voy a conocer a otra persona en la calle con la misma prenda.

¿Que estilo te define?

Para ser sincera, todavía estoy en la etapa en busca de un estilo. 

En los proyectos en los que estaba trabajando hasta ahora, han sido obras de arte muy oscuros con un toque de misterio. Supongo que esto es mi estilo en este momento, pero yo diría que todo depende del estado de ánimo.

¿Cuando supiste que querías ser diseñadora?

Tengo que admitir que me gustó mucho todo el proceso de preparación para el desfile de moda, incluyendo el espectáculo en sí. Creo que aquí es donde me gustaría verme a mí misma dentro de pocos años.

Por el momento, quiero educar y trabajar mis habilidades para prepararme para un trabajo futuro. Tengo muchas ganas de empezar el curso de titulación después del verano.

Siempre he soñado en llegar a tener un trabajo,  el cual va a ser mi pasión, algo relacionado con el diseño. Este es mi mayor objetivo!

¿Cual fue tu inspiración que te llevó a crear los diseños que pudimos ver en el Fashion Show ?

Las películas antiguas de terror fue la temática de mis diseños. He disfrutado todo el proceso, desde la investigación y hasta ver algunas de las películas de terror (como Drácula, Sweeney Tood, El Fantasma de la Opera, Nosferatu, etc), fueron toda la inspiración e ideas para el vestuario. 

Quería que mis diseños se vieran muy misterioso junto con el estilo victoriano. Así es como me ocurrió la idea del bullicio y la crinolina. 

Para el maquillaje quería lograr un estilo de terror con muñecas que  miran con caras blancas, largas y oscuras pestañas, y mejillas rosadas.

Mi otra inspiración en este proyecto fue Vivienne Westwood y sus últimas colecciones, Jean Paul Gautier, y algunos magníficos diseños de John Galliano.

Ha sido el primer desfile en el que he trabajado. Estoy muy feliz como se mostraron todas mis prendas esa noche ya que he trabajado muy duro con ellos. Tengo muchas ganas de participar en otros proyectos parecidos a este y ya he empezado a reunir ideas para los próximos diseños.

¿Cuanto tiempo te llevó a pensar y llevar a cabo tus diseños para este desfile?

Justo después de las vacaciones de Navidad, en Enero de este año, empecé a reunir todas las ideas, así que, tuve cinco meses para realizar mis trajes finales. 

Junto con mis compañeros trabajamos en la preparación de la exposición, por ejemplo, yo ayudé a los estudiantes de Producción de Sonido de Forth Valley College para hacer la música para el desfile. Otras compañeras trabajaron en la comercialización y la hospitalidad para el evento.

¿Cuales son tus aspiraciones dentro del mundo de la moda?

Lo que realmente quiero en unos años es ser capaz de producir piezas que sean únicas y extraordinarias. Algo que la gente va a comprar y felizmente pueda vestir. Estoy muy interesada en la industria textil, el grabado, diseño de patrones, todo lo relacionado con el arte del vestir. Esto es lo que me gustaría hacer en el futuro.

En este momento estoy pensando en empezar a vender artículos por internet que voy creando, principalmente bolsos y joyas. Estoy muy entusiasmada con este proyecto.

INTERVIEW WITH IZABELA BARANOWICZ

      Who is Izabela Baranowicz?  

I am just a normal girl with big dreams. I try to find my place in the artistic world of fashion and textile design.

The biggest inspiration in my life is the music. I am greatly interested in music history, I read facts about the past, and explore new styles, bands and genres. It makes me feel good when I can purchase an album of the group I like. I am a fan of heavy music, classic rock and punk.


When I listen to the music I can feel the thirst for creating, designing and working on my projects. For me it is an invisible form of art, indomitable energy, which I highly appreciate, and when I listen to the right tune, depending on my mood, it makes me feel alive and happy. I am also passionate about the fashion and have been collecting fashion publications such as Vogue for last couple of years.

I have been studying Art at The Forth Valley College for last four years and have been enjoying every moment of it. Now I am finishing my final year of HND Art and Design. I love the Art, Surrealism movement; I adore all the collections of Alexander McQueen and love watching Victoria’s Secret Shows. 

      What is fashion to you?

     Personally, I think that fashion is the limitless way of self-expression, which does not require to follow the newest trends. You do not need to possess a fortune to create your own original image, I would say the opposite… I am a huge fan of the second hand and vintage shops. I think these are the best places in the world to find something unique, something that I can wear knowing that I am not going to meet another person on the street with the same item.

What style define you?

     

     To be honest, I am still on the stage where looking for a style. During the projects I was working

     on so far I was creating pretty dark artworks with a hint of mystery. I guess this is my style at the

     moment, but I would say that everything depends on the mood

     When did you know that you wanted to be a fashion designer?

      

     I must admit that I really enjoyed the whole process of preparing for the fashion show, including

     the show itself. I think that this is where I would like to see myself in a few years.

     At the moment I want to educate and work on my skills to prepare myself for the future job. I am

     really looking forward to starting the degree course after the summer this year

     I have been always dreaming about a job which I will be passionate about, something related  

     designing. This is my biggest target.

     What inspired you to make the designs we saw at the fashion show?

    Old Horror Movies was my theme for the costumes. I have been enjoying the whole process, starting of the research and watching some of the first silent horror movies (such as Dracula, Sweeney Tood, Phantom of the Opera, Nosferatu etc.), gathering all the inspiration and ideas for the costumes. I wanted them to look very mysterious with the Victorian style. That’s how I came up with the idea about the bustle and crinoline. 

     

     For the makeup I wanted to achieve a horror styled dolls look with white faces, long dark lashes and rose cheeks.

My other inspiration in this project was Vivienne Westwood and her latest collections, Jean Paul Gautier, and some gorgeous designs by John Galliano.

It was the first Fashion Show I have been ever working on. I am very pleased with how all my costumes looked that night because I have been working extremely hard on them. I am looking forward to another projects like this one and already started gathering ideas in my head for the next costumes.

     How long took you to think and carry out your designs for this show?

    

I got the brief just after the Christmas holidays in January this year so it took me five months to come up with all the ideas and produce my final costumes.

Together with my classmates we were also working on preparation the Show itself, for example I was working with the Sound Production Students from Forth Valley College to make the music for the catwalk. The other girls worked on the marketing and the hospitality for the event.

     

     What are your aspirations in the world of design?

      My aspirations in the world of design? I a few years time I really want be able to produce pieces which are going to be very unique and extraordinary. Something what people will buy and happily wear. I am extremely interested in textile, printmaking, pattern design and any kind of wearable art. That’s what I would love to do in the future.

At the moment I am planning to start selling items that I am creating at home, on the internet – mainly handbags and jewellery – I am really looking forward to it.
